The downside of cures is that they can take significantly longer to work than treatments. For example, changing your diet is a great way to cure back pain, but the results from this approach are not as fast-acting as a prescription painkiller.

The upside is that cures don't have to be relied on for relief for a lifetime. Once they do, you can go back to living your life to the fullest.
